Speaker: Captain Rob Chichester "Experiences aboard a Lightship"

Captain Rob Chichester

How many of us can say we have crewed aboard an actual Lightship? CAPCA member Captain Rob Chichester can say “aye aye” and has stories to tell about his experiences as a crew member on the U.S. Lightship Chesapeake. Rob will share archived photos and documents from before and during his time on the LV116, which was relocated to Pier 3 in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor in the early 1980s.

CAPCA member Captain Rob Chichester worked for the National Park Service (NPS) and logged sea hours on LV116 in addition to other NPS vessels, including a 45-foot ketch and 45-foot harbor tug. Rob looks forward to sharing the rich history of LV116, which was relocated to Pier 3 in Baltimore’s Inner Harbor in the early 1980s. Rob will share archive photos and documents from before and during his time on the Lightship.

Captain Rob Chichester holds a 200-Ton Master's license with Auxiliary Sail and Assistance Towing endorsements. He is the owner and operator of the 41-foot sloop Bay Poet based out of Rock Hall, MD. Through his company, Chesapeake Flotillas, LLC, he has participated in and is available for yacht deliveries along the Atlantic seaboard from Boston to the Carolinas.

The Zoom link will be posted on the home page one week before the program.
