Spring Seamanship/Rules of the Road Refresher

Tate WestbrookThis one-day course is designed as a pre-season refresher in seamanship topics.  Both professional captains and recreational boaters will gain knowledge and refresh skills that may have grown stale over this cold winter!  Students will receive an instructor-led intensive seamanship refresher with in-depth Q&A and lively discussion throughout.

Topics include:

  • Real-world collision case studies
  • Firefighting and Flooding
  • Internal Communications—Bridge Resource Management
  • External Communications—Changing VHF rules; FCC licensing; MMSI; Digital Selective Calling
  • Brilliant on the Basics: Critical COLREGS/Rules of the Road (ROTR) refresher
  • Anchoring procedures and best practices

Goal: Increase safety and reliability underway to get the most out of your voyage plans. Applicable for professional training, deliveries, and recreational cruising.

CPR/AED & First Aid for Boaters

CAPCA is pleased to sponsor a CPR/AED and First Aid Course designed especially for boaters. 

Cost: $115*
* If desired, upon completion of the training, students can receive an American Heart Association Course Completion Certificate in CPR & First Aid for an additional $20.00. This certification is accepted by the USCG for Captain’s License requirements. It has a two-year expiration date.
* An AHA-approved CPR Face Mask is required for this course. If you do not have one, a mask is available for purchase at $15.00.
