Need Assistance?

Basic Marine Electricity
The electrical needs of a boat are far greater than the electrical needs of our homes or our automobiles. The marine environment and the boat's exposure to shock and vibration in the normal course of use, require that we develop a more robust approach to installing and maintaining electrical systems that we find in a boat. The combination of AC (Alternating Current), DC (Direct Current), and GC (green bonding and grounding wires) create a complex electrical installation. We will cover these electrical considerations, as well as the new Ground Fault Protection requirements for boats and docks during this one day eight hour course.

Marine Radio Operator Permit (MROP)
A Marine Radio Operator Permit (MROP) is required to operate radiotelephone stations, (MF & VHF Marine Radios), aboard compulsory equipped vessels under the Communications Act, such as inspected small passenger vessels being navigated on any tidewater within the jurisdiction of the United States. The MROP can also meet the requirements for compulsory equipped vessels under the Bridge-to-Bridge Radiotelephone Act, such as tow vessels over 26ft, power-driven vessels 20 meters or over, etc. The MROP is also the first step for mariners looking to earn their Global Maritime Distress and Safety System (GMDSS) endorsement.
